Vision and Values

Our Vision

Our vision for Sturminster Marshall First School is a school where all children are known and valued as an individual, where differences are respected and celebrated. With community and childhood at the heart, our school intentionally nurtures kindness towards one another and believes that children thrive when their wellbeing is held at the heart of their journey. We believe in our children, and through imagination, high expectations and challenge, we inspire them to fulfil their fullest potential and develop an intrinsic happiness with who they are.

Our vision for the school is under-pinned by our values which guide how the community relates to each other and our environment. We explore a different value each month in assembly through stories, videos, activities, and discussion. The children are asked to reflect how our school value each month relates to the British values and celebrate those children who are seen modelling the values throughout their school journey.

Through linking the values to events in the calendar and modern-day themes, we strive to be a community that seeks to embody an ethos of living well together – preparing children for the challenges of being a 21st century citizen in Modern Britain, respecting and showing understanding of others and all that is similar and different.

This strong ethos permeates school life and the emphasis on increasing our children’s awareness of our ‘values’ is a significant factor in enhancing the pupil’s spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development.
